Meaningless Morning Shows, Just a Waste of Time
Pakistan is a country which is going
through a lot of crisis. The increasing crime rate and terrorist activities
have made it difficult for people to enjoy their lives. In such a situation
people need some sort of entertainment. Previously it felt really relaxing to
see meaningful Pakistani morning shows while relaxing in a comfortable chair
with a big mug of coffee but these days the trend of morning shows has changed.
The only focus of these shows nowadays is on the host’s dressing and jewelry.
Not only the host but also the guests are only displaying the work of different
designers by becoming a decoration piece. There are a huge number of housewives
watching these Pakistani morning shows and to be honest there is nothing
meaningful in it. All they have is a wedding theme the bride, groom and dancing
guests’ .The worst thing is marrying an already married couple in such a way
that it looks all real. As the large audience is of the women who stay at home,
these shows must tell them ways to become a better wife and an excellent
mother. The concept of a morning show is completely disturbed these days. The issue of marital conflicts is a huge
focus of these shows as well. Every other day they invite a woman who is tired
of bearing the brutal behavior of her husband and they let everyone know their
story. What is the benefit of all this? Absolutely nothing. These issues not
only brain wash the audience but they also create a feeling of depression among
them. According to me, Pakistani morning shows must be focusing on the talent
of the youth, compatibility of the couples. These shows must act as a grooming
tool for the audience. They should provide platforms to the girls who want to
start a career.Back in times The Nadia khan show had
different segments like; health, beauty, fitness and much more. That show as
compared to the shows these days was very meaningful. It was not a time waste.
She used to invite celebrities and discuss their secrets of becoming famous,
she used to invite doctors and ask them about different health related problems
of women and she also used to invite dress designers and makeup artists to give
tips to the women at home. It’s not that this doesn’t happen nowadays but this
is a minor portion of the three hour transmission of these Pakistani morning
shows. The morning show of Farah Khan was also a very sophisticated and
meaningful. The emotional blackmail technique is very
beautifully applied in all morning shows to fool the innocent audiences who
thinks it’s all real. Another major focus of channels these days is on
competing with each other. One show arranges a wedding; the other also arranges
the same wedding next week. . In the war of ratings media channels has forgot
all the ethics. Another big problem is lobby and grouping of people on media
all the least talented and not required people are seen on screen every new
day, different people from a same family will be seen on different mediums
together and believe me they are not willing to leave the screen and space for
any new face. The newly married couples will be seen every new day on repeat in
different shows with their kids who can not even pronounce the word media. Is
this justice with the people? Worst part we does not have such people in
industry who support each other to make Pakistan big Pakistani media big.Lately there has been a landslide of
wedding celebrations, especially during morning shows. While the aspect of
Pakistani tradition being broadcasted is certainly one filled with happiness,
it is also extremely unreal. Talk show hosts should realize that not everyone
can afford an exorbitantly priced designer dress and jewels, As the economic
gap between the middle class and the elite class, is so broad which cannot be
filled by looking at the economic condition of country so why not teach them to
enjoy happiness instead of riches? Why not talk about simplicity, love and
mutual respect between the couple rather than who has given the fattest dowry
to whom? Why we are teaching young girls that their whole lives revolve around
only that one special day: one day they will hold hand of a man and get
married? Why not tell them about their rights, teach them to stand up for what
they believe in – and teach them to be independent and work? It is no wonder
Pakistan is heading backwards. Beside this another failure of morning shows
topics are fake astrologists, black magic and fair color beauty tips though
that is not all reality some shows are also doing so well to establish their
shows but for the sake of ratings they have to follow the ongoing trend which
people want to watch but all over this media – yes, even the morning shows –
needs to realize the important part it plays in shaping the lives of so many
people and how strongly it influences society as a whole. There are many topics
our society is sorely in need of discussing, not the pointless dancing and
giggling that is so fake.Sharing my personal experience, I met a
very talented singer of Pakistan Zohaib Amjid who has the biggest collaboration
of 2015 with famous Indian rappers and he invested near 1.5 crores on his
videos, and I never saw him on any morning show. When I asked him why have you
not appeared in any morning show as you deserve to be there he mentioned “it’s
better to get famous from your neighbor country as it’s much respectful and
valuable” these harsh words surely depicts the disheartens of Pakistani
outstanding talent from the so-called themes and planned useless guests of
shows .There are millions of talented youngsters out there; some are creative,
some are good singers. All they need is a platform. Only wearing colorful
dresses and gossiping not only creates a negative impact but it also wastes a
whole three hours of the audience. The
cultural aspect has completely died as the hosts which used to be graceful in
their conduct have now become an ignominy for our society where unfortunately
women and girls also idealize them. Just for gaining the right amount of TRP,
these shows have come down to a shameless level which carries no sophistication
or decency. A strict check and balance and eye watch is supposed to be kept on
the producers and host to save the future of media for some fruitful results.
